Annapolis, MD. (Saturday January 29, 2023) – Delegate Jeffrie Long Jr. released the following statement on the death of Tyre Nichols.
"The savage murder of Tyre Nichols in Memphis has once again stirred the nation's soul and raised serious questions about the state of justice in our society. The Nichols family deserves answers and accountability for this horrific act.
It is the duty of those in positions of power to uphold the highest standards of justice, and any deviation from this moral obligation must be met with swift and decisive action. Whether in our communities or behind bars, any brutality that violates the basic human rights guaranteed by our Constitution is a stain on our nation and must be condemned."
