Delegate Reverend Jeffrie Eugene Long, Jr.

Delegate Jeffrie Eugene Long Jr. represents District 27B in the Maryland House of Delegates. He was elected in 2022 at the age of 25 and continues to serve as both a legislator and the Senior Pastor of Communion Church in Huntingtown, where he was officially installed in November 2018.

A native of Southern Maryland, Delegate Long was raised in a spiritually grounded household that believed in service, dignity, and the power of community. He answered his call to ministry early and became a senior pastor at just 21 years old. He brings that same moral clarity and sense of duty to his work in Annapolis.

In the General Assembly, Delegate Long serves on the House Environment and Transportation Committee. He contributes actively to the Public Utilities, Natural Resources and Open Space, and the Transportation subcommittees. He is also honored to serve as the Chaplain for the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland and as the newly elected Vice Chair of the Southern Maryland Delegation.

Delegate Long is a vocal advocate for voting rights, housing justice, and criminal justice reform. In 2024, he successfully championed the Paystub Transparency Act, which requires employers to provide employees with a written or digital pay statement on every payday. The law protects workers' rights to understand their earnings and creates a more transparent system for wage accountability.

District 27B, which includes parts of Calvert and Prince George’s Counties, is home to both growing communities and long-standing neighborhoods that deserve thoughtful, sustained public investment. Delegate Long’s legislative focus includes modernizing infrastructure, expanding access to affordable housing, improving public transit, and protecting the rights of working families.

He credits God and the values instilled by his parents for the foundation that guides him in both ministry and public life. His leadership reflects a belief that public service must be rooted in accountability, compassion, and proximity to the people being served. In both the pulpit and the legislature, Delegate Long continues to serve with integrity and a commitment to building a future worthy of the people who call Southern Maryland home.
